Review: Colours Pleasures Yum Yum 6″ Dildo

The Yum Yum dildo sitting on a wooden ledge. It's facing towards the camera; the toy is pictured in front of some plants and a brown wall.

Itā€™s no secret that I love fantasy dildos for their bold colors & abstract shapes. I know that fantasy toys arenā€™t everyoneā€™s cup of tea, but I tend to get squicked out by ultra realistic dildos. The Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo, made by NS Novelties, seems to be a happy medium. So when Naughty North offered to let me review it, I readily agreed.

Visually, the Yum Yum dildo is just as lovely as I hoped it would be. However, I found it to be less than delightful in use.

Design

The Colours Pleasures Yum Yum is a realistic dildo with a veins and a pronounced coronal ridge. Its shaft is fairly straight, and has a subtle texture thatā€™s almost skin-like. The Yum Yumā€™s girth is consistent throughout the length of the toy.

I love this dildoā€™s color scheme; the beautiful swirls of blue and white remind me of the sky. Despite not being advertised as UV reactive, the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo glows beautifully under my blacklight.

Since it has a flared base, the Yum Yum dildo is both anal safe and harness compatible. Iā€™d recommend using a 1.75ā€ diameter o-ring with this toy for strap-on play. While I managed to squeeze it into a smaller 1.5ā€ o-ring, it was a challenge. (Once again, Artemisia Femmecockā€™s bag trick saves the dildo day.)

The base also has a seriously strong suction cup. Although my bedroom walls are slightly textured, the Yum Yum stays in place super well. In fact, removing this dildo from my wall requires quite a bit of effort! Because Iā€™m unapologetically lazy and have zero upper body strength, I usually just wait for the toy to fall down by itself. It often takes a few hours before the suction cup weakens enough for it to fall.

With that said, removing the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo from my shower wall was a nightmare. It adheres extremely well to smooth surfaces, so getting it unstuck was a struggle.

Materials & Care

NS Novelties describes the Yum Yum as a firm dildo. While I donā€™t know the exact shore durometer[1]Shore durometer is a way of measuring silicone firmness levels. of its silicone, this toy has very little give. Itā€™s slightly more flexible than my Tantus Acute, but still pretty rock-like.

Because platinum silicone is a non-porous material, it can be fully sterilized. I usually boil the Yum Yum dildo when I want to give it a deep clean, but it can also be run through the dishwasher. For everyday cleaning, fragrance-free soap and water work just fine.

The Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo has a velvety finish that holds on to lube well. It doesnā€™t feel overly draggy, but thereā€™s still a little friction present. In order to avoid damaging the Yum Yumā€™s silicone, itā€™s best to use water– or oil-based lube with this dildo.

Specs

I own the 6 inch version of this toy, which is the smallest size. The Colours Pleasures Yum Yum is also sold in 7 inch and 8 inch variations.

Accessibility

Since this toy is on the longer side, I find that itā€™s relatively comfortable to hold & thrust. The base is fairly easy to grip, but it can get slippery if thereā€™s extra lube on my hands. I usually keep some paper towels nearby to help avoid that.[2]Yes, I keep a roll of paper towels on my nightstand. Itā€™s very sexy of me, I know.

The built-in suction cup has proven to be a great accessibility aid, which I very much appreciate as a disabled fat person. When suctioned up against another toyā€™s base, this dildo can effectively work as a double sided toy. Although I havenā€™t tried it this way for strap-on use, the second dildo can serve as a handle to make thrusting easier. This method works best when using a dildo with a similarly-sized base.

My Experience

I had high hopes for the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo. That is, until I actually tried using it for the first time. There’s no delicate way to put this: using the Yum Yum dildo feels like fucking a cheese grater. When first inserted, the texture merely feels uncomfortable. After a few minutes, it starts to become abrasive – regardless of how much lube I use. Due to this toy’s firmness level, the texture on the shaft feels painfully intense in use. If I wanted my genitals to get shredded, I would have taken up vaginal weightlifting instead.

Unlike an actual metal dildo, the Yum Yum dildoā€™s silicone is slightly flexible. While that might sound like a good thing, it actually makes this toy incredibly frustrating to use. Because of how straight the Colours Pleasures Yum Yumā€™s shaft is, it doesnā€™t provide any g-spot stimulation. Every time I try to angle the dildo towards my g-spot, it bends away from my front wall. The Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo fails at a-spot stimulation for similar reasons. Since itā€™s nearly impossible to aim, the head bashes directly into my cervix instead of sliding behind it.

Due to how unpleasant the Yum Yum dildo feels when Iā€™m thrusting it, I usually opt to clench around it instead. Even then, itā€™s far from comfortable when inserted. I can sometimes get off using an external vibrator in tandem, but my orgasms mostly occur in spite of this toy.

Itā€™s not much better in a strap-on harness. Because I canā€™t feel much sensation from fucking my partners with a toy, there can be issues with the Yum Yum dildo slipping out. I have to be careful when Iā€™m thrusting to avoid stabbing them with this very firm piece of silicone. While I canā€™t speak to the Yum Yumā€™s p-spotting abilities, it failed miserably at g-spot targeting during partnered sex. This dildo may be harness compatible, but it’s not harness competent.

Overall

Although the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum may look unassuming, my body has never hated a dildo more. Iā€™ve taken bigger and more textured toys in the past, so I wasnā€™t expecting the Yum Yum to cause as many issues as it did. Using this toy causes my genitals to go into fight or flight mode, and thatā€™s not a good thing.

My Recommendations

Unless you like super firm, highly textured dildos,[3]Can’t relate, but you do you! I wouldnā€™t recommend the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum. Here are a few body-safe alternatives Iā€™d suggest instead.

  • If you prefer realistically shaped dildos in bright colors, check out the Neo Elite dildos from Blush Novelties. This one glows in the dark!
  • If youā€™re looking for a simple, non-phallic and harness compatible toy, the Strap-On Me dildos might be up your alley. Theyā€™re sold in a range of sizes that go all the way from small up to XL.
  • If semi-realistic dildos are more your speed, you might like the Blush Avant dildos. All of them feature bold, colorful patterns and built-in suction cups.
